The recent HIV/AIDS Policy Review in Namibia
I hope the HIV/AIDS Policy Review by the Ministry of Health and Social Services will emphasise prevention, including the community education, the distribution of condoms and provision of ARVs as well as male circumcision as major strategies to go forward in combating HIV/AIDS in Namibia. The Role of communities, especially women and HIV positive people should not be neglected. Equally important is to fund and provide necessary support and resources to Community-Based Organisations such as the Solidarity Community Care Organisation to enable them to continue the community mobilisation, education, information and support to defeat HIV/AIDS forever in Namibia and world.
Unfortunately, not all stakeholders, especially HIV positive people and CBOs were invited to Review meeting of 19 to 20 November 2014, as some of us only learnt about it when it was already over. Hopefully, this not just another blackmail and armchair Review to rewards friends and cronies.
We look forward to continue to make a meaningful contribution to this cause as well as to poverty eradication in our and beyond.
