In Demand IT skills for 2015!
The new year is fast approaching, which means publications in every industry are in the process of predicting just what the next calendar will bring with it. We recently discussed the top tech needs for 2015, which naturally led into the top IT skills for the year.
Computerworld recently forecasted the 10 hottest IT skills for 2015. The list is as follows:
- Programming/application development
- Project management
- Help desk/technical support
- Security/compliance governance
- Web development
- Database administration
- Business intelligence/analytics
- Mobile applications and device management
- Networking
- Big data
It's no surprise that many of the skills line up with the biggest trends in the technology space. Mobile and web applications continue to dominate the technical innovation landscape, and both have begun penetrating the enterprise sphere. As more businesses opt to overhaul their web designs and develop mobile applications, there will be a greater need for those who can carry out these tasks.
But while businesses are increasing their expectations in this area, there simply haven't been enough people to fill their needs. Blake Holman, senior vice president and CIO at Ryan LLC, a Dallas-based tax services firm, expressed his frustrations to the news source.
"It's been very difficult to find folks with good development skills," he said.
Organizations have taken measures to try and close the gap. Schools are increasingly building development courses into their curriculums, so those interested can receive the necessary education before entering the workforce. In the meantime, there are opportunities for VARs and MSPs to fill the needs of their clients, provided they too can find the right people to fill their skills needs. VAR Staffing can help with that effort by recruiting the best talent with the most sought after skills.
