Why are Vision Boards a Necessity for Entrepreneurs?

Love it or hate it, vision boards are an entrepreneur’s best friend. Easily assumed to be a counselor or life coach’s first resort, vision boards are fantastic tools for you, as an entrepreneur, to visualize the next level you want to move to, personally and professionally. Amidst the routine of every day life, it is the single images on a vision board that drive you to bulldoze through all obstacles in your path, to achieve what true success and fulfillment means to you.

Why a vision board

Let’s face it. When you read an entire page of all the things you want to do with your life – you might remember a few pointers. When you see images of the things you want to do in your life – you build scenarios around it. Which one then is more inspiring and motivating? A quick look at your vision board while you have a slow day at work or a bad day with a client is sufficient stimulus to get you going and address whatever circumstances they may be, in order for you to forge ahead. Remember that your vision board does not have to be about those fancy shoes and that big house by the sea. It can also include the feelings that non-tangible experiences can bring about – a happy family, the thrill of bungee jumping, the calm of a tree house in a wooded backyard or the excitement of your first cruise.

Sets the stage for future mindset

Visualizing what you have not accomplished yet but would like to is always a great source of drive for entrepreneurs. The glass half empty outlook has many consequences, mostly for the better, if you have a visual board fuelling the fire. In front of you now, you will always have the imagery of what your future will hold. This is a constantly changing picture so never fear having to change the images on your board. This is your entrepreneurial pursuit and only you know best how this experience will complete you. This will give you purpose to strive for the things that matter, the reason why you decided to wear the entrepreneur hat and keep you grounded and true to your mission. A clear focus is often the primary reason a vision board is created and maintained.

Financial goals and expectations at a high level

A simple tool as a vision board can be a powerful activation of efforts and intent that make your dreams a reality. For an entrepreneur, this is the best medicine any doctor ever could prescribe! Aspiring for professional success through vision boards facilitates higher financial goals, greater expectations, more rewarding experiences, an overall higher level of functioning that can only help progress your entrepreneurial spirit. Consider this a mapping out of your journey, a review of your goals – probably your cheapest investment as an entrepreneur but the potential value to you is immeasurable. Setting greater standards financially and professionally, and having a constant reminder of that conscious decision top of mind, will power the path to success.

So where do I begin?

Simple! Get yourself a soft board to hang at your desk or a place in your workspace where you will be instantly inspired. Grab a handful of magazines and aim for a few images that speak to you in terms of your future success as an entrepreneur. Cut them out, get a few thumb tacks to pin them on your board and hang up your board for everyday affirmations of why being an entrepreneur is important to you and how it is going to change your life for the better. If you want to be more organized you can strategically places images under specific categories like personal, professional, pleasure, etc. or prioritize them in terms of the first five things to strike off your list. Remember though, the larger the images, the more immediate the vision and strive to accomplish that goal. If putting out your vision board in a public area is not your style, then create one on your laptop so you can be in tune with your future success at the click of a button!
