Train this to your team, if you want them to win

This is a great article that you can share with your team to ensure you prepare team for success. I have shared this to my team and my supervisors review often by asking once a week on what does FLAP-TAPE stands and what does it mean? Results was amazing and it is still really working for me and might work for you as well. My team are more enthusiastic and more cooperative and they are excited about how can they make their contribution. I thought of sharing this to you all on Linkedin and hope you will share with people and give me your honest feedback.

FLAP-TAPE is a key to remember on How can your team contribute to make a great team.

Be open to Feedback (F)

It is really important that everyone understand that whole objective of feedback is change or correct behavior and reinforce desire performance, It is not to criticize people. It is about How can we make difference and how can we contribute. We should be open to receive feedback and some criticism, it is for own good and our own development. I think we should be happy that our manager is honest and he is helping us to improve our performance and contribution and he is giving it for free.

Let go of the Past (P)

When we work as team, it is quite obvious we will have some misunderstanding, conflicts and bad experiences but we should remember that when we work as team, every day should be as new day. We should not hold grudge amongst each other or stop under performing when working with each other. Let go of the past.

Accept Difference (A)

We are different from each other and we will have differences. Differences can be in many way, that may be personality, region, culture and our own beliefs. We should remember that even we have differences, we work as team and we must see what we have in common in us and nurture on that. We work together on common goal and we must make unity in diversity.

Be Positive, always (P)

We will come across situation that we may feel sad and most often it is because we see things in different way without trying to understand People or situation. Try to be positive about people, try to understand people and be positive about situation and your own thoughts. You be the source of positive energy. When you see things positively, talk positive and you will see positive results.

Trust (T)

Trust is not one's right but it is earned. You may come across situation that your Supervisors doing check on you, asking you to extend shift, giving you additional responsibilities, sharing you confidential information. You have to pass situation and be consistent in what you do and this is how you will see earning trust from people. Be there when people need you and at same time maintain high honesty and integrity. Win that Trust.

Accept Responsibilities (A)

You are accountable for your own action and when you do mistake, admit them. As said by Philip Armour, No general can win battle alone and He must depend upon his lieutenants. Your supervisors will depend upon you and you must accept your responsibilities. What other do is is important but not as important as what you do. Accept your responsibilities and try to be best in what you can do and your contribution.

Problem Solving Attitude (P)

We will have different problems when working as team, you may say it is not my problem but we must understand that it will some how affect us. We must see how can we fix problem and it is only possible when we change our attitude and become really interested to solve the problem. Ask yourself, How can you fix or help fix the problem. Be open to ask question, make suggestion and help to solve the problem.

Encourage Others (E)

You will see some people shining in your team and helping TEAM achieve bigger and better results. Encourage them with respect and honest appreciation and never bully or make fun of them. When I was working I worked with a colleague Alan. Our team was having poor results in Shoppie (Way to measure customer experience) and Alan helped us have really great scores and because of this great scores our team became one of the best team with awards and recognition. Some colleagues started discouraging him and soon we started losing as TEAM and Alan left the team. We must encourage people with skills and talents and this is the best way you can help team win.
