Well it was written and now it seems to happen rapidly. For the first time ever mobile usage has overtaken TV viewing, this might spark a new wave of content consumption and dedicated formats.
The article by Business Insider states that americans spent an average of 2 hours and 57 minutes a day on a mobile device, compared to 2 hours and 48 minutes in front of a TV set.
Many consumers are likely to use both screens in tandem, though it's difficult to quantify the overlap exactly. Nielsen says 84% of consumers use their mobile device as a second, supplementary screen to the TV. Which is the first and which is second screen I would ask ? Not so sure anymore !
The hype in the MCN buying spree by USA studios and recently also Telco players seems to indicate a clear direction.
The way content is discovered is changing and will never be the same again, enjoy! :-)

10 年The comparison is interesting and shows the future of content delivery, but not accurate; if we followed the same irrelative comparison we can say that if people drive for 3 hours a day, then driving is taking over TV :) Let's have a solid KPI for comparison that will show real results, for example : how many minutes watching TV versus watching video streaming content on mobile devices! Do you agree?

10 年è certamente una tendenza. Ma stiamo parlando di device. Il contenuto della fruizione, al di la del device utilizzato, potrebbe essere in sovrapposizione come certamente è.

10 年Hi Lorenzo, As long as I understand, we're talking about time spent on mobile devices overall (not only in order to watch videos). That means it's not only leisure time... I' m not that sure "overtake" is the right word to describe this trend, I would rather say it's a completion. Do you agree?
