Good-Bye My Friend Walt
We lost Walt this last week. He was a lot of things to a lot of people. He was a Colonel in the United states Air force. He was a Meteorologist. he was an Air force pilot. He was a preacher. He was a Christian song writer and singer. He was a loving husband and dedicated father. He was a self taught architect and solar home builder. He was a wonderful person and great friend. The thing I remember him most for was his communication skills. For those of you who have read my book "From Preacher To Predator", he was the Colonel that I was referring to in the chapter about the colonel's daughter. Indeed, it was a great privilege to have the opportunity to know such a man. He was a living example of a person who knew the difference between knowledge and wisdom and how to use both of them effectively. A man who could dazzle you with his intellect and extensive vocabulary and yet be able to talk to you in the simplest terms without making you feel inferior. Like the Apostle Paul said, "While in Rome do as the Romans". A man who stood for right in all circumstances, but able to chastise those who did wrong without being offensive. Like they say, "he could call you an idiot and make you glad that he told you. Those days that I was able to spend time with "the Colonel", have long been behind me now, but the marks of wisdom that he shared with me so long ago will always remain. Good bye Walt, my good friend. I will miss you until we meet again.
