Why Sachin's current controversy disappoints me

I understand that this post could be disliked a lot as criticising Sachin on social media is just a little short of criticising Narendra Modi. But here it goes nevertheless

I am very disappointed with the controversy Sachin has raked up indirectly by mentioning the incident with Greg Chappell. Here is why

1. Unwarranted mileage:
It is one thing for an obscure bureaucrat to rake up a controversial incident of his political master just before the launch of his book to up his sales. For Sachin to do this is unwarranted. Despite his retirement, his fan following is only increasing and he definitely doesn't need controversy to increase the sales

2. He is not a leader:
The fact that he raised it 7 years later is a matter of shame. If he felt so strongly about Rahul Dravid incident why didn't he walk up to BCCI and spill it all out. The board would have taken appropriate action and the country and his teammates would have only admired him even more. To stand up for your captain sends out such positive signals to the world at large

3. Gora Obsequiousness:
Am wondering would it have been the same scenario had an Indian or South Asian coach done the same (assuming this incident is a fact). Players treat the gora coaches very differently even today and very few (exception could be Saurav Ganguly) dare to take them head on. The colonial hangover is still too evident (much less so with the current younger lot)

4. Chalta Hai attitude:
Most of us, Indians, tolerate a lot of crap thrown at us and not take up what we believe in. If Sachin had taken up this matter with the authorities it would have set a precedent with fellow mates and support staff that we mean business. I mean this is our Indian team with Indian money and Indian fans and yet a gora coach could come and suggest something like this always our apathy to stand up for anything

Point no 2 is what miffed me the most about SRT. The entire campaign of this book launch was based on a negative tone! I am sure this was the idea of an instigating journalist/writer Boria. But yes shows SRT in a poor light.

i am reading his book and have also gone through his comments on the coach. In my opinion, while it surely looks like marketing tool (to make some controversial topics public), I think he is been honest about it. I think that's what an autobiography should have. Infact, he has also spoken against Kapil Dev as a coach and his strategies

The first thing that came up to my mind when I heard all about the coach incident related to Sachin's book was why now? was he not man enough to speak up then? He is THE SACHIN TENDULKAR, if he can't who will? He lost my respect, I have admired him all my life but this shows his selfishness :( Sad
