Congratulations to the team at Fitness First!

Sarah Sammut, Head of Human Resources at Fitness First, shares with us the journey that led to their win at the 2014 Australian HR Awards for Best Learning and Development Strategy.

The team were thrilled to win this award and we were up against some solid competition. A special thanks to my local and global L&D team who were the front players in achieving this award.

In 2013/14 Fitness First launched a global program to reshape the way we do business. The Raising the Bar program has put our members at the centre of our business strategy. This program set out to ensure that during our rebranding process members would experience a “change for the best” in the equipment and design of their club as well as the quality of service and knowledge of our employees.

The three day intensive program was the first step in creating a solid foundation for our employees to ensure they have the skills and service capability to help members achieve their fitness goals to ultimately help them go further in life.

Our objectives are also future-focused. 2015 will see us introducing a new learning and development app. This app provides a modern day solution to the challenge of multiple site locations and unique blend of employment status and provides a platform for us to increase our frequency and reach of employee communications and learning and development.
