Everyone knows that promotions drive sales, and any good marketing or business owner has seen how effective the "Sale Ends in X Days" can be. Well now with Google ad customizers, your ads can update in real time based on a countdown or virtually any data you want.
Google has offered a Dynamic Keyword Insertion feature for quite a while now which works like this:
- Within your Adwords ad, you type keyword: and a default keyword or keyphrase. The final product looks sort of like this: {keyword:ABC Widgets}
- Then when a user sees that ad, Google is going to replace ABC Widgets with the actual keyword that the user searched for.
Using Dynamic keyword insertion almost always improves the CTR for your ads and may also result in more targeted traffic (assuming you're using a good negative keywords list).
Now they've taken things a step further with ad customizers which let you insert dynamic text across a variety of attributes. This enables you to create an ads with dynamic product names, inventory counts, prices, and more. An ad with customizers could look something like this:
{=Mixers.Model} Stand Mixer
www.example.com
{=Mixers.Capacity} quart {=Mixers.Type} stand mixer.
{=Mixers.Start_price} - sale ends in {=COUNTDOWN(Mixers.Sale_ends)}.
And when google shows the ad to the user, it's going to pull data from an ad customizer data template that you provide and may appear like this:
ProWhip 300 Stand Mixer
www.example.com
5 quart tilt-head stand mixer.
$199 - sale ends in 5 days.
As you can see, this could allow you to create thousands of customized ads with minimal work.
