Find your story and tell it

It is not about the cover letter or your resume, it is about you. Learn how to tell your story through writing, or how to explain it properly. The rest will follow. The secret of a well-written cover letter is to learn to write well. The secret of an interesting resume is to have done interesting things. So do interesting things and learn to write about them.
I believe the format how any story is crafted is not as relevant as the content of it. You are the one that knows it better than anyone. And you are the creator, the main character of that story. Now, go ahead and tell it, do not be shy. If you find the right listeners, they will be engaged.
As Benjamin Franklin said:
Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.
Good stories have an introduction, a plot, and a conclusion. Unless you would like to write your biography you provably are at the plot. But at the plot of what? In the middle of your life? The best way to find it out your story is to write it down, build it intriguingly, and learn some basics of writing. Use any of these resources to get better at it: Persuasive Writing Guide, Copywriting 101.
Once you have your story clear in a draft or in your mind, you are at that time that you know yourself well enough to explain it out loud, or write it well down. You are at the right time to engage with people that has the same interests as you do and those who might not be aware of how interesting you are until they actually listen or read your story.
Crafting your life is as important as explain it coherently to showcase the steps you made in your career, its balance with your personal life, the hobbies you have and why you love what you do.
Key Takeaway
To me, the main point is to know your story from the beginning to the end. You should have it clear, and the more you will write about it the better you will get at telling it. Whereas this would make your social skills better, or get you the next job, it will make you a more skilled professional. You don’t have to list it on your resume, you just have to bring it with you anywhere you go!
