A New Independent Studio Is Going Viral
Los Angeles- No its not another Netflix, Amazon, Hulu or YouTube type of company that develops new films and web based series. A new independent film studio has been formed called J Kera Media, LLC under the leadership of John Kera, the company’s CEO and architect. Kera has developed it originally as a advertising agency and film production company, but now Kera wants to do something more with the company. He has formed an independent film studio that will distribute its own content online through Vimeo, an online video distribution platform that now assists filmmakers in showing one’s work to a paying audience without a monthly fee. However, viewers pay a one time viewing fee and they’re able to watch a film or web based series on their computer, laptops, tablets or smartphone devices. Hollywood is becoming more digital these days and that’s not talking about CGI, but talking about distributing films and shows online. Kera is hoping that investors will take a look at his company as they are in preproduction for a short film entitled The Devil’s Confession, a ten minute horror short that is set to begin filming in late October or early November. Kera has already brought in one investor from Canada who believes in Kera’s work as a writer and as a filmmaker.
The Devil’s Confession will be released on Vimeo’s website and they will charge a ninety nine cent fee for viewing. The short film will later become a full length feature film with notable actors attached to the film. Kera is not ruling out the possibility of releasing the films in theaters or on DVD, however, Millennials are seeking a new avenue in viewing programming and films besides theatrical release. The company has several projects in the development stages such as Paranormal Myths, a one hour Reality series about two filmmakers in Los Angeles who investigate possible hauntings throughout the world. The company focuses on independently made production projects that are in the budget range of five hundred thousand to five million dollars per film, while the web based series projects will vary. J Kera Media is currently reaching out to several advertising agencies for product integration since Vimeo does not cut into commercial breaks.
