InTxtr - Better SMS on Android (alpha)

Sometime back I have written a post about SMS-Magic, an app on salesforce which have made SMS better for many enterprises on Salesforce.com. Today I will be writing to tell you about InTxtr, An Android App (alpha) which I think would make SMS better for almost everyone (almost because it is not for iOS, Nokia folks)

SMS in Local Language

At Screen-Magic, We are working on SMS technology since last 6 years. One of our first experiment with SMS was to send SMS in local language. Being in India, most of the people are not proficient with English language, SMS in local language does matter. Around 6 years back, SMS in local language was rarity but we tried. If you were customer of MTNL or Loop in Mumbai, If you would have got SMS in Marathi/Hindi, it was sent by Screen-Magic on behalf of MTNL/Loop. We have integrated our technology in infrastructure of Loop & MTNL. It was good success.

Dive in Mobile World

Since last 2 years, We were experimenting with Android & IOS. Trying to build a prototypes of various Android Apps. One of the primary aim of this exercise was to get our developers trained on Mobile development skills. With this exposure our team participated in Hacknight at Thoughtworks, They built an app from scratch. Here are details - Story of Inception

Although we were able to create apps, We were not good at UX/UI on mobiles. Finally We have decided to take a serious plunge into Mobile App Development. So we tried and first of our MVP product is InTxtr.

What is the Need of Another SMS Inbox?

In a short, It helps keep your inbox neat & clean.

Many of you would be wondering about the need for this app so details follows.

We think we understand SMS technology better with our experience in this domain. We know the pattern how SMS usage is changing all over the world. We acknowledge the fact that with rapid growth of Internet based messaging apps like whatsapp, Wechat, SMS has become obsolete in the context of personal messaging. I bet you know this very well.

But on the other hand, SMS is being rapidly getting adopted by businesses to reach out to the customers on mobile phone. Whatsapp or Wechat doesnt provide enterprises easy way out for this. Even if these apps enable the businesses, it would destroy the basic value proposition of these apps which has made them popular.

With growth of enterprise use of SMS, There seems to sudden increase in SMS from various businesses with whom consumers interact. These volume is going to increase as time goes by and as enterprises are becoming more customer facing.

For example, if you want to plan your travel, you would be interacting with multiple travel companies, they would send you offers, information to you via SMS. Same thing is happening with Eatouts, Health, Shopping. In no time, your inbox will get bombarded with lots and lots of SMS. There would be lots of data to manage in your inbox.

InTxtr is built to solve the problem of information overload in your personal app. We will be adding lots innovative feature in coming months, some of them might be already expected, some of them would really surprise you.
