4 Ways to Find Your Sense of Purpose
I believe God put us down here to have a little fun. We all deserve to be happy and to be loved. How do we know when we are lost and not living our sense of purpose? Our bodies do not lie. Our gut (intuition) tells us when we are off track. We just don't listen to it. Depression, anxiety, and unhappiness are nothing more than action signals. The action is to make a change. Our life choices can enhance our soul and our choices can drain our souls. Don't betray yourself and your integrity. If you have to lie, you are putting up a front.
We know when we are on the right path. When we are doing what we love, we loose track of time. Don't let fear stand in your way of living the best possible life for you. What is your purpose in life? Who am I and what are my unique skills and talents to fulfill my life's purpose? Begin by asking yourself those questions, and you are now on your spiritual path to finding your sense of purpose. Here are 4 ways to uncover and find your sense of purpose.
1. Set an intention and MEDITATE
- Meditation is quieting the mind (ego). Prayer is talking to God and meditation is listening to God. Visualize your dream as an intention before you start the meditation. It is preferable to sit while meditating. Ideally, you can do it two times a day; once in the morning and once in the early afternoon before dinner for 5 to 10 minutes a day. Don't try to silence the thoughts because that is a thought in itself. Leave your thoughts alone and be aware of them. Watch the thoughts float by like clouds over your head and melt your body into the floor or chair as you relax. Observe your breath and do not try to control it. If too many thoughts come into your mind, just focus on the breath to quiet it. Eventually, you will loose thought of your breath entirely. Science has shown that meditation, even 2 minutes a day, will change your brain. You will be hardwiring your brain for less anxiety and more creative spiritual energy.
If I throw a rock in turbulent stormy waters, I cannot see where it lands. Meditation is throwing the rock into the calm lake and watching the ripple effect as energy is emitted into the universe. This energy created by meditation will attract the things you need to fulfill your purpose. It is a scientific fact that similar energies attract each other. Keep a notebook by you when you meditate. You can write down the creative things that come to mind after you are finished.
2. Pay Attention
- When you are flipping through the radio and an interview inspires you, stop and pay attention. If someone is talking about a book that interests you, buy the book. Let your spiritual energy guide you to the right path. I am a sole survivor of an airplane crash. I was looking for a doctor to help remove some hardware in my back, which could risk paralysis. I walked into the doctor's office and there were pictures of airplanes all over his office. I knew I was in the right place.
3. Show Up
- If a speaker is in town that intrigues you, show up and attend. If a business idea grabs your psyche, show up. If someone is selling a business that you have always desired, show up. If someone is speaking about a topic that is of interest to you, show up. Just show up and listen to how things are unfolding. Talk to other people to look for feedback. Talk to people at the grocery store, beauty salon, or wherever you may be that day. They may have valuable insight or connections to get you where you want to go. Just keep telling yourself, "just show up." Who knows what can happen or where it will take you. The excitement of it all is yours to find.
4. Keep Showing Up
- Don't start and then fall back into our old patterns or relationships that drain your energy or a job that prevents you from soaring. Keep going. When you get stuck, you may need to course correct (change your direction). Course correction is not a failure. You may need a mentor or ask for help or suggestions from a trusted source. Security is not having money or things, it is resolving issues.
If this task isn't working to get the job done, you'll find another way. If that doesn't work, you'll try something else, and you will keep going until you are moving in the energetic flow of the universe. God will show you where to go. Trust your gut. Your gut is the pipeline to God's sense of purpose for you. We all make a to do list. I rarely see a to do list that has a task on it to get you closer to your dream. Do one thing a day that is on your to do list towards achieving your dream. Do things to impress you. All the words of encouragement or positive affirmations are not going to build your confidence in achievement. There is only one thing that builds self-esteem and that is action. It is not just any action. An action that is aligned with your values and dreams.
You know you are on the right track when you don't have to compromise your integrity and it feels right. Our bodies don't lie. This choice isn't costing you your soul. Your choice is not draining you and costing you your power. Your choice is fulfilling your psyche and soul. When you are fulfilling your purpose, you loose track of all time. You do not have to lie to yourself or lie to make others happy . Do not betray yourself. You are God's child and you can do anything.
