Cloud Application Primer

The 'Cloud' is everywhere and everyone is already using it, aren't you? Sometimes the industry coverage, buzz, and high level conversations happening all around convince us that everyone is conversant with a subject, and we probably know all we need to already.

'The Cloud' was one of those topics for me. I understood the concept at a high level and the value in building our client's applications in an Infrastructure as a Service environment to provide scale and flexibility, while reducing capital equipment costs. However, I didn't know the technical features that made this possible, or how this affected the architecture of an application. Luckily, my CTO has taken the time to share his thoughts and expertise on the subject, defining some terms and concepts so we can all have a deeper conversation about cloud based applications.
