So it would appear that despite Construction being one of the most important sectors for the UK economy it doesn't actually any direct involvement at Cabinet level.
I have to say that the response from the FMB and NFB to the change from Matthew Hancock to Nick Boles is a rather innocent approach, taking the view that because Nick Boles has a large number of other responsibilities at BIS, some of which have a tie in with the sector's need for training and skills, his appointment is good news. But surely in reality one of the main problems BIS has as a Ministry is that it has far too many roles and areas of responsibility altogether. How can a Minister truly focus all of his/her attentions on the Construction sector when they have a wide array of responsibilities?
Surely there is a need for Cabinet Minister for Construction and there has never been a more appropriate time for that Minister than now!
