The Powerful Play Goes On...

So many quotes from one of my favourite films Dead Poets Society but this seems so relevant...

And oh how well Robin Williams contributed a verse with his life...

So very poignant on a day like today where there are so many so called celebrities... Famous for doing and achieving so little of any worth yet a man who has contributed so much has taken his own life. Often it is this kind of sad event that makes all of us stop in our tracks and think.

Perhaps a lesson for all of us in this quote is to think of how this "play" goes on and on and how will we all contribute a verse....

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute.

We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion.

And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life.

But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.

To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?"

Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.
