Why We Can't Always Be Happy, And That's Fine

We were born hungry and no matter how much we eat and become full over and over again, we'll still be hungry eventually because that is our default setting, that's our netural state.

That's a great example of why will never stay happy. We were born content, not happy nor sad; our default setting is contentment. So no matter how happy we get or how sad life makes us, will always get back to that feeling of just being at ease.

Happiness is not our natural state, it's an elevated state of mind. But because the feeling of happiness is so pleasant and pleasing, we want it to be regular and consistent from day to day. In all actuality, that will never happen.

So the challenge for us is to become satisfied and comfortable with being content. If that happens, than happiness will only be a bonus....
