Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the easyJet 2014 Winter Readiness Conference at Luton. For those of you who attended, I think you’ll agree that not only was the organisation great but so was the content and the speakers.
The day was focussed around easyJet’s clear ethos of spraying less glycol, use of remote pads, embracing new technology whilst operating safely, efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way; all subjects that easyJet are very clearly corporately aligned to!
One of the things that really struck me was that both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic were also invited, the latter also presenting on the recent ERD trial at Gatwick. In these days of competition compliance it’s quite rare to see these silo’s being broken down.
Time was devoted to thinking and planning for other winter weather related phenomena such as wind and rain and the disruption it can cause with speakers from easyJet and Virgin Atlantic.
The main event consisted of an excellent mix of exhibition and speakers presenting their thoughts and experiences around the main themes which included; rig manufacturers Mallaghan, JBT, Global, Vestergaard; technology from Avtura, SureWX, Vaisala and others such as Kilfrost, Airline Services, IDS, Provirion, AeroMAG and AMSS to name a few as well as several speakers from easyJet.
One of several quotes during the day was Albert Einstein’s “Only he who can see the invisible can do the impossible” – for me, this sums up everything that easyJet are trying to achieve here. Through innovative and creative thinking and most importantly, collaboration, we can move the industry forward and provide better and more efficient solutions and not use the weather as an excuse. Our customers expect nothing less!
Well done easyJet – can’t wait until the next one!
