The Top Three Things to Do On a Weekend
I'm lazy this weekend, enjoying a cold South American winter and a whole lot of soccer. If you're in the US, hopefully you are getting in the joy of a full three-day break. Elsewhere, you've still got two days to rest up. Two days you can maximize to ensure that you're ready for the week ahead.
So what can you do with a weekend to truly make it a great break between work and work?
Here are the top three things I always prioritize, culled from a long history of fully enjoying my favorite days of the week;)
- Rest: Yes, this is the on the list that I prioritize more than anything else. Ultimately, your weekends should be about ensuring that you're getting rest and recuperation to guarantee that, come Monday, you're ready to go again. This means ideally not taking a red eye somewhere Friday night, and a red eye back on Sunday. Instead, this means using some of your time to do (gasp!) nothing.
- Spend Time with Your Family: However you define family (the people you live with, the people you used to live with, the people you should live with), it's likely that during an average workweek you're not doing nearly as much spending time with them as you should. Take advantage of the weekends to spend true quality time with those you care about.
- Step Away from Your Computer: Yep, you heard it. Step away from the computer. If not for a full day of digital detox, then for an afternoon. Something to help you feel you've gotten away from the constant influx of your digital life and stepped out into the air of your other life. The real one.
Can you get in one (or all) of these activities this weekend so you're better ready to face Monday? Or what can you do to best do with your weekends to prepare for the week ahead?
