Confidence & Boundary Management

Some people say that the following is a real story, and some says that it is old Grany type story. The fact is that whatever you may call it, but I am sure of something, after reading this, you may realize, that the fact mentioned down here is truth. I am sharing this for many others to understand; (names are changed in this story to keep the confidentiality of people...)

Story goes like this:......

John Paul Joanise a business executive was deep in debt and could see no way out. Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment.

Paul was carrying one laptop bag having a tag of his frequent flyer program of American Airlines by which he used to travel from one place to another.

“David stop the car here, you can go to home, I will reach myself.” Paul asked his driver .

He was thinking in the back of his mind that he is the only person who need to be blamed for this current situation.

Paul sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy. Immediately Paul started thinking that may be ending his life will help in closing all such issue from his life.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. "I can see that something is troubling you," he said.

In fact Paul was willing to talk to someone with whom he can share his problem.

After listening to the executive's woes, the old man said, "I believe I can help you.”

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, "Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time."

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

Paul saw in his hand a check for $1,500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

"I can erase my money worries in an instant!" he realized.

But instead, the executive decided to put the un-cashed check in his safe.

Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, Paul negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. Paul closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the un-cashed check.

At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared.

But just as John Paul the business executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

"I'm so glad I caught him!" she cried. "I hope he hasn't been bothering you. He's always escaping from the rest home and telling people he's John D. Rockefeller.”

And she led the old man away by the arm.

The astonished executive just stood there, stunned.

All year long he'd been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had One and half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn't the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around.

It was his newfound self-confidence

that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after......... and.....make it a great time ahead!!

Story actually does not end here, in fact it starts from here, saying that a person or a business house owner sometime may have problems, but as an habit, problem over powers our mind because we always get into the problem and starts finding the solution, sometimes if we are lucky we find the solution and sometimes we can’t and starts losing our confidence.

Confidence which is a major key to success in any field is something which we have to find and figure out ourselves...

It may not be necessarily money - but some kind of backing is MUST.
