What is "real" ECM in the Cloud?

If you are asking the question "what is ECM in the Cloud?" then you're asking the wrong question!

That was the view of a colleague of mine a few days ago. His point was that the fact that an ECM solution is "in the cloud" is actually irrelevant. The right question(s) are

1. What is ECM - and which aspects are important for your organization?

2. Can I get that in the cloud?

If you haven't answered question 1 before you move to the cloud - then chances are you'll end up trying to do real ECM things (like workflow, advanced capture and OCR, and integrations to other software) from a glorified cloud file-share tool. Not an ideal situation to be in!
