Energy, environment and sustainability is gaining ground, albeit slowly. Organizations and even governments are realizing that there is significant business and monetary benefit too. Impact of environment has been felt by one and all. A bad monsoon can cause GDP of a country to drop by a few points, excessive heat (like in the summers this year) has caused inflated power bills.
While there is talk of renewable's, alternative sources of energy which currently do not have a CFO friendly ROI, the best alternative is to start saving. If corporations and governments around the world encourage, incentivise savings it can go a long way in making our planet and businesses more sustainable.
The recent initiative from the french government is in the right direction. Last week the french government announced a slew of incentives, tax-breaks for reducing energy consumption. Using good insulation in the buildings can reduce significant energy consumption during hot summers as well as cold winters. The new french law will allow homeowners to deduct 30 percent of the cost of thermal insulation from their taxable income

10 年Even we had some incentives for using Solar Water heaters. There are good amount of subsidies for using Solar cells. Looks like most of our people are not aware of these.
