Lessons never stop

As a seasoned public relations practitioner I am continually delighted to come full circle in my work and watch the process take shape. I slip however, at times, over the amount of time it takes to reach its full validity. We position, we shape shift, we twist and turn to accommodate all the needs, all the quirks, all the forces we have no control over and then we wait. And it's in that waiting, that transitional period where the real juice can take affect. I remember having a client who wanted countless meetings to go through all the details, what else could be done, why isn't it happening and was so frustrated. Att the conclusion of the meeting I looked him straight in the eyes, held a few moments of silence and simple said..."you have to trust" -- trust that you did everything you could and more that you believe in your project, your product, yourself. He sat back and said....thank you. And soon, it all came together. It's this final piece that is critical to forward movement. Just trust.
Thank you for this, Susie. I apply this philosophy to keeping A Grape in the Fog open. Seems that too many businesses, in my industry, explode on the scene and then die a sudden death - without a chance of reaping the benefits of all the PR, promotional and good-will efforts put forth.
