New Findings Reveal Rep Access to Doctors and NPs/PAs Continues to Further Decline

The number of HCPs not seeing pharmaceutical reps this year has substantially increased from last! 21% of responding physicians across 21 specialties say they do not see reps, up from 17% last year! That’s a 4% increase in those closing their doors to pharma! What’s even more troubling is the number of NPs/PAs who no longer see reps – a whopping 38%!

And, of physicians and NPs/PAs who do see reps, nearly 1 out of 5 said their time with them will decrease in the next 12 months.

What does this mean for Pharma? Targeted access using alternative communication and media channels. Want to know which ones HCPs prefer? Stay tuned for MediaVitals 2014!!!

This isn't a surprise. MD's have to maximize their office hours to push patients thru and keep their treatment rooms filled, to maximize their utility. Unless more device companies can deliver new treatments that allow for greater patient flow through a practice, this is a trend that will likely continue. Money matters more than ever, as insurance companies and the government reduce payout amounts and slow down the speed of reimbursement....

Thanks for the top line, did access changes refer to all pharma representatives or just sales? Was there a separation of medical/R&D personnel?

Dr Dorfman, how does that compare to the UK and emerging markets like China, Russia and Brazil?
