Legends, Research and 4:20 App

Since 2005, while helping at Hurricane Katrina I have been passionate about helping people and causes, while always enjoying sports.

We had an opportunity to purchase the Canton Legends arena football team, in the Hall of Fame city to attempt to fulfill both interest. After a tremendous amount of time, effort and money we won a national championship in 2006. We rode the wave for a few years and decided it was time to continue on with helping others. Also, if you know anything about minor league sports, they normally do not bare fruit. So we took our valuable experience and began the Legends Foundation, a 501c3 non profit organization in 2009.

I personally met so many wonderful people in education (my wife for one) at universities, sports and businesses. We helped over a hundred organizations over the years from autistic, reading, cancer, schools, hospitals, churches, troubled youth, amputees, diabetes, Special Olympics and a host of individuals. Knowing we could continue to make a difference, we are are now more focused on the incarcerated population, persons with developmental disabilities and school age kids with sports camps. We are an organization with huge potential with over 700 professional athletes, coaches, cheerleaders, politicians, musicians and mentors in our network, lead by faith in God. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

We have spoken at just about every youth incarcerated center and some adult centers in Ohio, as well as hosting developmental disabilities camps and sports camps for kids.

4/20 date research indicates Adolf Hitler’s Birthday, Columbine Massacre and National Pot Smoking Day… a sad or negative date. Our research over the past several years indicate wrong choices can be a direct link to gangs, bullying, obesity, teen pregnancies, stealing, pedophiles, weapons, pornography, sexual offenses, burglaries, drugs and alcohol use. This often times leads to incarceration, a start to a downward spiral life, a threat to our communities and a drain on our system. Through our uniquely combined efforts we can make our communities stronger, healthier and more safe for all, turning a negative date into a positive time of day. "There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up."

The goal of our message is to allow/position everyone (children, parolees, oppressed and all who just want to be motivated to do something positive or at least the right thing at the time) to hear a powerful mentor inspirational message at 4:20 each day, making them accountable for their immediate actions, knowing consequence are part of choices. If someone was planning or contemplating a unjust deed/unlawful act/crime and received our inspirational message, it just might be enough to have them reflect and contemplate their actions, leading them to make good choices for the day!
