Time Management - 3 Simple Tips

When you are a small business owner, the buck stops with you for everything under the sun. Sometimes, you don't have an option to work as you planned, which results in spending more time getting all tasks done. During the past 18 years, I have worked with the following time management tips that have helped me:

1. Schedule, schedule, schedule - I plan for at least 6 hours of every day with defined activities to perform and keep 2-4 hours for random stuff that shows up at my desk.
2. Time Recording - At the end of each day, I record my time in half-an-hour additions by activity that I performed.
3. Reflect - Every week, I go back and identify the tasks performed that resulted in either 1) revenue generation or 2) cutting costs. Also, I identify the tasks that did not result in those two areas, and I simply eliminate them from my future tasks' list.

Practicing these simple three tips has helped me being more efficient and productive during my work hours.
