Question the question
People often say that they are detailed oriented. They believe that they have the ability to get to the root of a situation and then handle it in the most effectively way possible. I wonder if these same people take the time to step back and look at the overview. A single viewpoint is not necessarily the most accurate viewpoint.
You may feel like you are asking the right questions to find out as much as you can about a situation. However, that would still be in line with your own perspective. How do you take in consideration other perspectives. there is usually a lot more to a story that what can be found by drilling a hole straight down into a situation. Consider a broader approach. And it may be especially important to include the cast of characters in your quest for knowledge. If you truly want to know something about someone you should include that someone in your quest for understanding.
There is usually a lot more to the story than what meets the ear at first...
