Tesla to dominate motor industry by 2017
A few months ago, not long after they launched in the UK I was singing the praises of Tesla and urging people to check out this wunderkind of the automative industry. In a nutshell Tesla produces an electric car - but that statement does them a huge disserivice because on so many levels Tesla embodies the very reason manufacturing in general has been shaken up over the past few decades.
Their Model S now comfortably outsells any other similarly priced car in the US, in fact, get this, they have taken 50% market share in the entire automobile industry!! To have achieved that in just a few short years is completely staggering.
How have they done this? It's not through clever marketing and riding on an eco-wave - although undoubtedly those do figure large in the success story, but because like Apple, they get how to make a product that is completely desirable and have coupled this with superlative customer service (99 out of 100 in all tests - unheard of). They also produce the world's safest cars with the cheapest cost of ownership and within a year, with the Model X, are set to deliver an SUV that will not only outperform anything else in its class - but purportedly be able to drive automatically (in something slightly more attractive than Google's 'Noddy' mobile)!
When I first reported on the phenomenon that is Tesla I said they would dominate globally inside of a decade. I was wrong - it's looking like half that time and with bells on!

10 年Fascinating. An interesting case study when one considers how the same approach could be applied to my industry (professional services).

10 年Bang on, Adam: this is the new world of business driven by customer word of mouth ... NOT by clever marketing!
