Make The Invisible Visible - Code Youself
10 年This knowledge has been around for ages but people still insist on having a them & us attitude. Why? goodness only knows & transparency seems to be something that few employers & organisations want to develop & instead allow their employees to be highly territorial. I learnt years ago in the 1980s to be precise that I work with people not for them & for some reason this is seen as threatening behaviour.

10 年The challenge Scott is that it was that simple at age 3 - 4. However, our socialization has turned inter-personal relations into rocket science. We are taught to protect what we think of as SELF and SELF is really about self. It thrives on "ownership" - Me, Mine and on "distinction" - I am not like that....I am different. If every SELF has that agenda then what should have been simple things like Listening are now complicated. We hear through filters that are distorted by SELF's agenda. It now requires time and coaching to help us to realize that SELF is an identity thief. We need to search for the real Me under the layers of faulty socialization...in a phrase...Transformation of the Mind.

10 年Thanks Christina. As a HR person, it seems the points you make are often ignored as I think its not seen as being 'business like' to care for people! But as you say its win/win! The research you provide is helpful to add as evidence as well.

10 年Very thoughtful and timely post, Christina. Rethinking today's employee motivations and their implications for leadership is no longer optional; it is an imperative for institutional and organizational success and for leaders, as well.
