I know the word cloud is overused and sometimes misused, but I'm not going to rant about that now. I wanted to cover 11 cloud services that I love and that make my life a lot easier.
Office
Have you ever considered running Office apps in the cloud? Well, there is Office365 from Microsoft or Google Apps. You can even run a whole desktop in the cloud with Amazon or Citrix.
Password Management
With eBay announcing a security breach, you need to check this one.LastPass is my recommendation to help here.
Manage Customer Relations
I'm fairly new to the CRM world. There are plenty to choose from, but I am a big fan of Nimble which has great social features.
Backup and Sync
You do back up, right? How about synching to multiple computers and devices? Most people have heard about Dropbox, but if security, more space and more flexible synching are what you need then try SpiderOak
Email
Well there is GMail, but businesses should check out Google Apps or possibly Office365/Exchange
Security & Encryption
Do you ever work at a coffee shop and use the public WiFi? Then you need a VPN? In fact it's definitely a good idea to consider a VPN to encrypt the traffic from your computer or device and the internet connection you are on. Private Internet Access is super secure and very reasonable in cost.
Social Media Sharing
Everyone has heard of Buffer, well it offers a great deal of flexibility when it comes to social sharing. It's a massive time saver. I also have to mention another app (not in the article) called Friends+Me which I couldn't do without. It turns Google+ into a SMMT - allowing you to share your G+ posts to a plethora of social networks.
Social Media Relationships
Social sharing is one thing, but how do you find out who is in your community - who your supporters and influencers are? That's why Commun.it is such an amazing tool- it allows you to find out who is in your core social community and allows you to interact with them all through the same dashboard.
Document Sharing & Lead Generation
You'll have heard of SlideShare but there are other tools out there. I love edocr.com which allows you to share documents with other users and embed them on the web.
Real People Web Analytics
OK Google Analytics is cool, but it doesn't tell you much about the people who visit your website. CANNDi captures personal information about the people who visit your website allowing you to generate leads much more effectively
Telecommunication & Phones
You're not still using a landline or a mobile number for your business are you? How about embracing VoIP? Sure there's the likes of Google Voice (still not available in the UK though) but there are some amazing providers out there which allow you to do some cool stuff.
