Accesing Intuition With Soul Collage

I have decided to dedicate an hour or more each day to personal work and exploring several new practices. One of them is Soul Collage.

I just came back from visiting my Dad and my step mom Gretchen in Melbourne, Australia. Dad was born and raised in Sydney and left to attend Princeton University at 16. During his stint in the States he adopted two kids (one of which was me) and had a natural born son, then did seven-year stints in Toronto, Canada and Stockholm, Sweden, and is now residing in Melbourne. This was my first time visiting them.

Gretchen is Dad's wife of many years and my step mom. On our visit, she introduced Melia to MeCards4Kids, a child-friendly derivative from Soul Collage.

SoulCollage? is a process for accessing your intuition and creating an incredible deck of cards with deep personal meaning that will help you with life's questions and transitions.

HOW to SoulCollage?

Do you have a big pile of images you have saved in the closet or under the bed that you have been waiting to figure out what to do with? Following the simple SoulCollage? directions, your hands move fragments of cut-out magazine pictures around, fitting them together in a surprising new way and gluing them down on a card. Cards containing the images you select -- or the images that select you -- come straight through your Soul, bypassing the mind.

WHO Can SoulCollage? Everyone!

This is a multi-leveled, creative process which anyone can do. All you need is a good pair of scissors, pre-cut mat board cards, and images you can cut out from magazines, greeting cards, personal photos, postcards, catalogues, and calendars. You can do this work individually, but it is also wonderful to have other people with whom to share the process. The cards are fun to take to a friend's house, to work with in therapy or support groups, or to keep on your coffee table.

A SoulCollage Deck is the Story of You.

"It is a tangible way to know yourself in your diversity and depth, and also to show yourself to others. Showing your deck of SoulCollage? cards to another person can be a profound experience. In like-spirited groups, you can share cards and work with them in many sacred ways. You can consult them intuitively and discover wisdom within yourself which will amaze you. Besides all this, creating them is just plain fun! You will love your deck -- a multi-card Mirror of your Self and your Soul -- whether it consists of three cards or a hundred." ~ Seena B. Frost

MeCards4Kids was developed by Nancy Weiss in collaboration with a teacher and her 60 students.

Nancy Weiss, LCSW, is a psychotherapist and spiritual director in Los Angeles. She uses SoulCollage? regularly with her clients, blending depth psychology, dream work, and expressive arts. MeCards4Kids? is the product of a three-year collaboration with teacher, Jane Raphael, and 60 children. Through this rich process, Nancy experiences the great pleasure of guiding children in the expression of their inner depth and wisdom.

Nancy wanted was to bring the essence of Soul Collage to children, engaging the child's imagination and self-expression

Melia immediately gravitated to the practice, making cards for the Koala and the Australian Little Penguins we saw, as well as a card for the Melbourne trip with the transit map as the background behind logos of the place we visited. It was really nice to see Melia excited about a creative endeavor, and it got me intrigued. I am always looking for ways to engage the curiosity and creativity of children and could this be something Melia share in common. Perhaps, but I knew that it would be best for me to simply encourage Melia to be in communication with Gretchen. I know that if I were to show too much interest or enthusiasm about it, Melia would be turned off. That's just were we are at now as she continues to individuate.

When we got back from Melbourne, I ordered the MeCards4Kids and Soul Collage Evolving books as well as card making supplies. I also set an intention give the practice a try, to make a collection of my own Soul Collage cards and see if they help me live the story I want to tell. I will use the cards to access my intuition and tap into healthy perspectives on life's questions and transitions.

People who have made vision boards or do Soul Collage: What surprised you?

Hi Dave, I was touched by your post. How has your practice (especially involving SoulCollage?) continued to evolve?

Hello Dave Room What a great thing to find on your trip - for your daughter and for you! SoulCollage? is a wonderful process. I've been doing it for several years and use it both personally, with my spouse, and with a group of friends. I also enjoy teaching it as a facilitator. It is wonderful to watch the amazement and connection that you described happen as people experience the process. Enjoy! I have an article about using SoulCollage? to give voice to intuition available on my website www.CreativeLifeCenter.org

Hello Dave Room! It was fun reading about your discovery and you may want to join the Collage and Poetry for Kids-MeCards4Kids? open Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mecards4kids/ Enjoy your experience of creating SoulCollage? cards as a way of accessing intuition and "living the story you want to tell" Your inner wisdom on healthy perspectives to life's questions and transitions is bound to emerge! What surprised me about the process was its effectiveness in revealing quite specific detail for balancing personal challenges. Almost as if answers were waiting, poised at the ready, just to be discovered through imagery and SoulCollage? cards. Blessings!
