Posting LinkedIn Updates - Etiquette

  • Follow company email etiquette while posting or re-posting updates on your LinkedIn profile.
  • Avoid commenting on SPAM posts.
  • Avoid updates that are asking your network to comment on weird math problems to get more profile hits for self.
  • Avoid updates that are asking your network to comment on simple questions such as “Name a City that does not have letter “a” or “e” etc.
  • Avoid commenting and liking the above updates.
  • Posting irrelevant quotes from business and technology leaders and copy/pasting the same from other posts (Again with the ulterior motive of getting more profile hits)
  • Posting common sense information as a quote from some business or technology leader.
  • Spell-check your updates and also Check for grammatical errors.
  • Ensure that you’re linked-in updates do not hurt the feelings of others (Stay away from updates that will offend people and create controversies.)
  • If you are not a publicity lover, please change your privacy settings on your profile, so that people will not congratulate you on your work anniversary, birthday or job changes etc.
(.. Please feel free to add more to this list..)

I am not going to share this as I am a bit ashamed, as I am guilty of some of these things. It is a very good article, But I can't share it without being hypocritical, I can only mend my ways! I was the one who commented "...is probably a real number." to those math posts. BR. Alice
