It's all relative

I was out at one of our aviation clients and this private jet was sitting on the ramp today. Yep, it's a private jet. Showed up this morning and 4 people, FOUR people hopped out, asked them to fill the tank and went on their way and will fly back home in the next day or two. I'll let you do the math, but it holds 45,000 gallons and jet fuel is about double what we pay at the pump for regular.

The lesson in this, at least for me, is that life is a relative thing. Yes, really well off relatives can loan you one of these, but that doesn't necessarily mean we'd be truly any happier. What it means is that for those four people, hopping on one of the biggest passenger planes ever made and going anywhere is about like me driving out to the airport to see my client. While the gas bill seems a bit large to my bank account, it's probably not a rounding error to theirs just as filling the tank in the car is no big deal to me. It's just what we do, and it's all relative.

We can get caught up in the minutiae of everyone else and what we don't have that they do, or focus on what we can control and the people around us and enjoy life! Step out of the old comfort zone and find our own magic. For me it was just magical to be able to walk around a 747 on the ramp on such a beautiful day with a client that is a very good friend.

Hope you're having a magical day too!
