40 Things I Am Grateful For On My 40th

Today is my 40th birthday. It has been an amazing ride but looking back on it, I am most grateful for the little things in my life. Here are 40 of them that bring a smile to my face on my 40th and make me excited to live 40 more.
  1. The grove of Aspen trees on the ride up Independence Pass
  2. My son Max's eyebrows when he is asking a question
  3. Fresh air - especially mountain air
  4. Breaking things
  5. My sister's courage and compassion
  6. Watching my dog Nucky run after a ball
  7. Ma Po Tofu at Tofu on 7 ave in Park Slope
  8. Listening to a concert in the grass at the Aspen Music Festival
  9. Going to the movies
  10. Short family road trips
  11. Observing ants at work
  12. Playing Tribe Called Quest too loud in my car
  13. Connecting with audiences when I speak at events
  14. Doing a six hour Netflix binge
  15. Lego
  16. My daughter Lola's smile
  17. Watching the Yankees, Wolverines, Broncos and Knicks come from behind to win
  18. Being wrong
  19. Talking to taxi drivers
  20. My wife Kara's laugh
  21. Reading nasty comments on my blogs
  22. Watching movies on a long flight
  23. Working late on a tough challenge with the team at the office
  24. Catching a baseball
  25. Learning about a new city from a proud local
  26. Walking in the woods or on a busy NYC street
  27. Listening to my kids snore
  28. Fresh picked raspberries
  29. Dog noses (and ears)
  30. Learning about random businesses and industries
  31. My dad's experiments with facial hair
  32. Taking pictures of people doing random things on the subway
  33. Bach's Goldberg Variations
  34. Throwing rocks into a mountain creek
  35. Hitting a tennis ball in the sweet spot
  36. Napping on my roof deck
  37. Watching my kids play in the pool
  38. Doing math in my head
  39. Drawing with my daughter
  40. Flying into LGA over Manhattan
