2014 # Cold, hot, drought are now part of the new "diseases" of agriculture
My research and experimentation work always lead me to deal with current and important issues and problems. The climate changes of recent years, with the "bizarre" climate, are causing major damage to agriculture. Cold, hot, drought are now part of the new "diseases" of agriculture.
In 2014 I began to deal with cold damage. The question of climate adversity is complex and involves more branches of agriculture: agronomy, pathology, physiology, etc. Obviously, having direct means of defense available would be optimal and desirable, both in horticulture and fruit growing.
Where this is not possible, it is not convenient to lose all production, but it is necessary to apply with all the systems and/products that can help us to reduce the damage.
Glycols have been used for many years in the field of cold damage prevention, but with poor results and practical applications. The reasons are essentially two: the glycol is a molecule too large to enter the plant; the second is that people pretend a lot from these products. Today, thanks to our technologies, the first problem has been solved. The "second generation" or "ECOGOL" glycols are purified and highly penetrating in the plant. At the same time, at the recommended doses, they do not present phytotoxicity problems. Regarding the second problem, all know that the variables of cold/frost damage are always very many, but the protective effect of my product is always pliable and, certainly important compared to the untreated items.
The effectiveness of my formulation is linked to the organic component, consisting of polyethylene oxides (i.e. Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen) that "bind" the cellular water, thus causing a concentration of lymph and a "vitrification" effect on cellular liquids; the process of formation of harmful ice crystals is slowed down, with evident cryoprotective effects on the plant.
Already many professional farmers have used my formulation and can demonstrate the validity of the product. It is always important to remember that the product should be applied at least 2-3 days before the expected cold.
