The Hidden Danger of Success
If you are successful, I have this warning for you: stay humble, or else!
Humans are inherently proud. However, pride can also blind us to our weaknesses and if left unchecked can lead us to disaster. Especially in times of success, savor your victories, but don’t let them fool you into thinking too highly of yourself.
Learning from failures is natural because the source of your failure is often readily apparent. However, learning from successes is an even greater challenge because it is harder to see those weaknesses that could hurt us in the future. It is also harder to see potential threats on the horizon because there is less pressure to adapt to a changing environment. Why change what (appears to be) working? However, this is the precise danger of success. It can easily lock us into modes and mentalities that may not have had anything to do with our initial success.
If you approach your successes and your failures equally, with humility and a critical eye, you will see your strengths and weaknesses for what they are and be able to adjust. This is the path to success.

10 年How true, how true. Some years ago, at the beginning of digital photography, I had the opportunity to make a presentation to various people at Kodak about digital technology. They made a fool of me. Being "full of themselves", they were quick to say they were the world's biggest and best in film technology with no interest in what I had to say. The word HUMBLE was not on their vocabulary.
