Start-Up Loans: A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out

Last summer I launched Start-Up Loans. This is a policy which is exactly what it says on the tin: money to help people start up their own business and get on in life.

Today we’ve reached a big milestone: the 10,000th loan has been processed. And I want to explain why this isn’t just a number on a government graph - but why it really matters.

First, Start-Up Loans are helping budding entrepreneurs across our country achieve their dreams. It’s not easy starting out on your own nowadays and that’s especially true when it comes to getting a loan. People who want to set up a new business are often having the door shut in their face by the banks. These are people who have got ideas, determination and costed business plans — but through no fault of their own they can’t get the money to make a go of it.

Start-Up Loans are changing that, making sure all that potential doesn’t go to waste.

Watch a video of young entrepreneurDemilola Owoseje talking to Lord Young about how her loan has helped her:

Also askSam Greaves, a young man in his twenties from Rawtenstall. Today he runs a successful firm, supplying lighting to some of the biggest names in Europe. But at the beginning of last year, the company didn’t even exist: it was just a pipe dream that he’d think about after work in his bedroom. His life changed when he applied for a Start-Up Loan: not a hand-out but a hand-up.

Just as importantly- Start-Up Loans are helping create jobs. In recent months, Sam’s been able to expand and take on new staff. This is a pattern we’re seeing across the country. We’ve seen encouraging signs recently that the economy is starting to turn a corner: employment is at a record high underthis government with 1 million more people in work. But there’s a long way to goand we need to get more people into work —and there’s no better way to do that than to back entrepreneurship.

New businesses are the lifeblood of a healthy, expanding economy: a symbol of aspiration and a source of jobs. That’s why Start-Up Loans matter to me - and it’s why they’re a key part of my plan for Britain.

Please allow me to say:"Happy Beloving New Year 2014 to the greatest Prime Minister UK ever".Please allow me to making opinion;such as:I agreed fully cos a small company makes more profit and less cost.WHY?.No Headache by employees mistaken and even small company makes UK Country more profits in all aspects.Honestly, when the small company gets more profit and they'll make 'em bigger without order by goverment.Maybe we says;Bussiness law.In other side:Let's compare the small companies in UK to Big Companies in UK?.I bet,the answer is:small company.Even big Companies can't survive without small companies.Small Companies;such as : Agents,Suppliers or retails,Franchise shops and many more.So Let's respecting Small company Owners by stand up together with UK Resolution in year of 2014 and this resolution will making great benefit to UK mostly.Respectfully With Love:Jimmy Somawirya Simamora
