What We Talk About When We Talk About Social

What is social commerce? The social aspect of shopping is vital to success in e-commerce today, but it’s important to understand what that really means. It’s not just about chatting with friends.

Social commerce should be about curated merchandise. Merchants need to know their customers, know their likes and dislikes, and seek out merchandise that delights and surprises them. This deeper and more personal level of interest (of both parties) is a big part of the formula for social commerce success.

Social commerce should be about connecting with true experts. If you want to a buy a tennis racquet, would you prefer to buy one in a mass retail store, off the shelf, or would you prefer to visit a pro shop and get advice? I know what I would prefer. The social commerce trend offers a virtual platform for merchants to offer the pro shop experience. The trend in social commerce moves away from a mass retail concept and allows for a more personal – or social – connection to the customer.

Social commerce should not just about peer-to-peer connections. Many when people hear the term social commerce they immediately jump to the notion of exchanging pictures and comments with friends online. That is part of it. But it is not the only driver. Successful social commerce not only allows the shopper to connect to and relate to friends and family, getting opinion on items that they want to purchase; it allows her to connect to merchants in an equally personal and beneficial way.

chatting with your online friends is different from social commerce,social commerce you have to connect to your target customer listened up on what they have looking for or needed to hear from you.

I totally agree with Hiroshi Mikitani point of view about social commerce. Our current era of technology live us less time to shop in old conventional ways. We are most of the day reading and contacting customers via internet that now and then or cyber business members of any corporation make access or so call space to view items and specialty items and products online. Cyber trending will lead us soon to 100 percent online shopping for what i believe social commerce should start to be more tailor in detail orientation and customer preference…Is clear to me that most of what I am referring to is currently offered online, but I believe there is plenty of room for improvement in this perspective, if an old fashion store at a giving name brand shopping center carries in its inventory a product that for retail stores the product is offered only in four colors and two shapes, why not social commerce pampers their customers by customizing that same product in different colors that what is available in at that or any retail local store.

Some e-commerce web-sites like amalgamated bookings to hairdressers,tennis courts,etc hosted by commercial banks like Goldman Sachs - what an addition to e-commerce this would be?

We have to tray all way to connect with our customer. Social commerce is good for many customer and products, but there is no one size fit all.Again planning, and budgeting, and so on.
