Fall is Falling: 5 Seasonal Recipes to Make Now!

Autumn has now officially begun in New York City and I am wholly looking forward to sweater weather, drinking more tea, watching the leaves change, and, most importantly, the return of all of my fall culinary favorites. September itself is a particularly delicious month on the east coast of the United States because of the abundance of delicious produce available during this time of year. While pumpkins, apples, and squash are ripening up, the last of the corn, blueberries, plums, and other summer favorites still line farmers' market shelves.
As a chef, I always like to track what's in season; knowing the peak ripeness of fruits and vegetables in your area not only ensures that they will be delicious but can also save you quite a bit of money at the grocery store. We've already changed the menu at my Harlem eatery Red Rooster to reflect the changing harvest, but you don't have to work in a restaurant or be a trained chef to enjoy the benefits of seasonality. With the abundance of ripe produce this time of year, there are just so many delicious options available to you in the kitchen. Here are some of my favorite recipes to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Enjoy!
