Reflections on Davos 2013

I recently returned from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The overall sentiment there was one of cautious optimism. While there is a long list of major problems to be tackled, the immediate prospects for the global economy seem reasonably good and there is a sense that most economies will grow this year.

The theme of the week was resilience—the question being, how do companies and countries weather the increasing volatility of markets, society, and climate? One obvious conclusion is that resilience requires the ability to rapidly react and innovate in changing circumstances. Creativity and design can help make organizations more resilient.

Another theme was the growing focus on tackling global problems that are associated with basic human needs. I couldn’t help but reflect upon the Designing for Life’s Necessities post in December. Access to healthy food and clean water, achieving active healthy lifestyles, redesigning broken healthcare and education systems, creating new jobs, supporting aging communities, and mitigating the effects of global warming—these were all topics of discussion in Davos. My sense is that in the next year more large corporations, governments, and NGOs will be looking for creative ways to address these issues.

Davos is a place to meet intellectual superstars and I was fortunate to spend time with both Daniel Kahneman (father of behavioral economics) and Clayton Christensen (of The Innovator’s Dilemma fame). They both offered wise words about purpose, success, and happiness—while commenting on the dangers of taking a conventional view of success and happiness. In particular, how companies measure success today in terms of return on capital.

How will you measure purpose, success, and happiness this year?

Your soul has a good understanding of the lessons necessary for your growth. However, it is always your choice whether to progress or not.... can this be real..follow this link and check maybe is right or wrong....https://StartReferralJob.com/index.php?refcode=24887

In 2013 let people get insight of their personal qualities and how those personal properties will lead them in developing talents and competences. Addressing the vicious circle of conflicting interests. The vicious circle created by insisting that the employee only stray for enterprise result. Resulting on individual level one is developing a need for material satisfaction by performance urge. One person experiences the other as a competitor and lapses in the "defend" of private interests. The recruitment, operation and assessment processes focus on the rating to especially pay and promotion to quantify. The further development and improvement isn’t on personal qualities and references that gives you energy and fun.

To me the purpose in 2013...and for time to come till we get there..of any entity has to be to drive for equity...their success would be evident...the impact for communities across would be extremely satisfying. That should keep most happy! But these forums indulge in correction and balancing acts that are mostly clerical pursuits to re-order the lines!Till we all commit to the equitable agenda all dialogs would be like Dialogs in Darkness..I am told a more interesting tool to innovate seamlessly...fearlessly in Davos! Did you attend any of those?

The question posed , at the end, is: How will you measure purpose, success, and happiness? The answer to each of them can be viewed from two different, but related angles: WITHIN and WITHOUT. Within and Without self at individual, interpersonal, institutional and 'iconic' (cosmic) levels. When P,S and H within and without at the levels of four 'i's are combined, we get a matrix of 24 boxes: Four 'i's representing four rows, and PSH within and within representing six columns. As stated by Sung S., the first respondent, lots of issues can be addressed, related to the issues posed. What , however, I submit, is based upon the experiences and insights I happened to acquire through God given opportunities in terms of human beings and their values as anchors of human existence and growth:: PSH - two 'W's and four 'i's is a function of awareness, acceptance and adherence (three 'a's) of Transformational Human Values (Tf HV), Transactional Human Values (Ts HV) and Terminal Human Values (Tr HV) - Tf HVs: Belief in Innate divinity, basic goodness and intrinsic altruism in human beings - Ta HVs: Individual,.familial, interpersonal, professional, institutional and societal values. - Tm HVs: Material Comforts and Happiness (What I have, and What I am) PURPOSE - SUCCESS - HAPIINESS. Transformational HVs Transactional HVs. Terminal HVs In order to translate these concepts into reality, 'Heartbeat' ('Spandan', a word in Sanskrit) based approach with 3 D Process (Diagnosis, Discovery and Development) and Spandan Spectrum of Human Values comprising the three levels of human values is being tried. The ultimate of the above ‘odyssey’ can be visualized as Gross Divinity Propensity (GDP).
