My Repeating New Year's Resolution...

20 years of real estate industry experience from boots on the street to the C suite
Confession: I'm a New Year's Baby. Which means that when everyone is busy ruminating about the turning of a calendar year, I'm extra introspective and melancholy, because it's a birthday as well. Add in the fact that it's a milestone birthday year, and, well, you get the idea.
2012 has been a whirlwind for me. Last January, I was looking forward to another year as a full time REALTOR. I'd just launched a new logo and was working on redesigning my blog, LoCoMusings (which drove my business). My husband Michael, after working as a PGA golf professional for twenty years, joined me on the team. I'd also accepted the role of training director at my company, a part time gig that would allow me to teach agents about technology, blogging, and social media.
Fast forward to July, to my announcement that I was taking the job at the National Association of REALTORS as their director of social business practice. I wasn't looking for another position or a career switch, but opportunity was too amazing to pass up. It was as if the role was crafted just for me.
After 15 years of owning my own businesses, I'm now commuting into DC every day, and working *with* a staff of dedicated, talented people. Michael has stepped up to take the reins of the real estate business, while Redwood hired an amazing (full time) training director in my place. And of course I've had the incredible honor of being included in the LinkedIn Influencers group.
So I'm standing on the cusp of new year from an entirely different perspective. I can't believe how different my life is, but I'm grateful, and looking forward to completely new adventures. I made a New Year's resolution three years ago, which I have continued to make each year since:
...to be myself, without apology, and to live and work without fear of failure, in anticipation of great success.
Given the way that things have gone, I don't see the need to change for 2013. Although I have to wonder, what could possibly be around the next corner?
From my family to you and yours, wishing you peace and love through the holidays, and a very happy new year.
Cheers,
Heather
Happy new Year, and Happy Birthday as well

11 年a well stated resolution! One worthy of repeating. Congratulations on the job change. My wife has a similar position at her real estate company and loves the challenges it brings.
