More iPads and Condoms sold in tough times

Treat yourself is the name of the game during tough economic times.

At least from a consumer′s perspective. Research shows that for some industries, like sweets or cosmetics (at my former employer we used to call it the "lipstick effect"), sales are going up as it is getting more challenging for consumers in an economic context.

It′s then all about "to treat yourself" properly. Although life might haven gotten more demanding, still consumers want to enjoy the good things and to indulge themselve. The slogan is something like "Me (and my family) are worth it!"

Have a look at the following article of Businessweek which tells you how Americans spend their money when they have less of it. Enjoy the reading:

At first, I thought it was so people could have sex with their iPads, because they love them so much.

Maybe chocolate helps... and it makes us smarter at the same time. The scientific proof is here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevensalzberg/2012/11/05/chocolate-makes-us-smarter-or-does-it/

How do you treat yourself during tough times? What is your motivational recipe to get back in shape and not to led you down?
