200+ miles apart... Virtual campaign shoot for Principality

Shot with 200+ miles between myself and world record holding rugby referee Nigel Owens MBE (now that's a zoom lens and a half! - haha) - earlier this week I virtually captured this digital campaign for Principality Building Society.
For sure there are very specific production and execution considerations to take into account when shooting remotely like this - but moreover I feel success on these shoots is about an amplification of your on set communication + visual skills, and experience as a photographer - and understanding how that translates to the virtual environment.
One signature of my approach on 'in person sets' is my ability to quickly create a positive and relaxed energy, freeing everyone up to enjoy the experience and bring their best work to the shoot. Aware of that, a key factor in play for me here in this virtual environment was to ensure I still created that calm and enthusiastic energy - even when in person body language and those communication tools aren't available.
Although I can't wait to be back creating campaigns on location in person, I massively enjoyed this experience - and still got that incredible rush of satisfaction from creating new work for my clients.
For me, it's all about continuing to create, whatever the 'constraints', and being on the front foot at all times with the tools available. After all, those tools are only a tiny part of the process.
Thank you again to Nigel for inviting us all virtually into his home, and to the teams at client and agency.
*I want to underscore that government guidelines were fully adhered to at every stage of this shoot. Throughout pre production, execution and post production, every person involved on this shoot was working individually from their own homes, and all communication was virtual via zoom and phone calls.
