200 Leading Ladies to descend on the GC

200 Leading Ladies to descend on the GC

As International Women’s Day nears, a record 200 women from across Australia and New Zealand are preparing to travel to the Gold Coast for the annual Leading Ladies breakfast at LMG’s Growth Summit, next week.

Leading Ladies has become the industry’s pre-eminent female support community. It empowers women in every stage of their broking careers, from business owners to Client Service Managers. It’s a community that provides a platform for women to sharpen their leadership skills, accelerate business success and support each other in an industry that’s traditionally male-dominated.

Since its launch in 2017, Leading Ladies has been instrumental in breaking down barriers, fostering lifelong relationships.

For Suzi Trajanovski , LMG’s National Director of Growth, taking on the Presidency of the Leading Ladies community over the past five years has been one of the most inspiring experiences of her career.

“Leading Ladies just gets bigger and bigger. Each year, more women join, more connections are formed and more voices are amplified. Leading Ladies has become the foundation for real, meaningful relationships, both professional and personal,” she said.

It’s important to note that women make up 43% of the LMG network. While LMG has grown on the back of its promises to save brokers time, keep them safe and diversify their businesses - the Loan Market offering additionally helps businesses grow and find and keep clients - movements like the Leading Ladies community are also influential in attracting talent.?

“LMG has always fostered a culture of inclusivity, and communities like Leading Ladies have played a central role in that,” Ms Trajanovski said.

It’s important to recognise the many attributes of female brokers in the industry.

For instance, among the LMG network, female brokers have reported a trend of female applicants seeking them out for their loan journeys. Having a female to reach out to can be reassuring for some female borrowers.?

Loan Market Clayfield broker Taryn Howe recently said: “I think there’s inherent trust between women during the financial journey - perhaps they’re more comfortable in being upfront with a female broker about what they do and don’t know. Some women find female brokers can be more empathetic to their situation, as well.”

For mortgage broker Caroline Mundey from Tevey Loans, who attended her first Leading Ladies event in 2023, the experience was transformative.

“Leading Ladies is a safe space to be truly authentic, to have honest discussions without judgment,” she said.

“It’s powerful to hear from other women in the industry: their challenges, their wins, and their experiences navigating business as women.

“I’ve been in broking for 15 years and running a business can feel lonely. But with Leading Ladies, I’ve found my people - a community of women who genuinely uplift and support each other.”

This year’s Leading Ladies Breakfast at the Growth Summit breakfast will feature renowned leadership expert and spiritual teacher Sheila Vijeyarasa as the keynote speaker, offering valuable insights into navigating the business world with confidence and authenticity.
