20 years since I started my career in the UK Events, Hospitality and Tourism Industry

Today marks 20 years since I started my career in the UK Events, Hospitality and Tourism industry, which I started initially in a small hotel on the outskirts of London. Since then I've been lucky enough to work in some amazing hotels, from one of the biggest in London, to the finest in Edinburgh, iconic venues such as beautiful castles and stately homes, stadia, racecourses and also a local bar at one point, to now working in one of the worlds most prestigious conference centres the EICC.

What a couple of decades it has been too! Despite not studying events or hospitality (but carpentry), it has worked out one of the best career paths you can imagine. Day one I learned to 'box a table' (for those not sure what it means, it's a technical term for putting on a table cloth properly ??), day five did silver service at a wedding, later moving into Events and Sales the rest is history... For anyone thinking about venturing into this diverse industry and starting their career in hospitality, events and tourism, I'd say you'd be missing out if you don't! Yes it's hard work, but worth it! #NoWrongPath

Over the years I have met and worked for some of the most inspirational and passionate people within the industry and have also met some of the most inspiring clients along the way (including meeting my wife working together in London). I have had the opportunity to fly around the world (literally) and attended events at some of the best venues, including working at a VIP dinner taking place underneath Concord at the Museum of Flight. 20 years of working at events, in restaurants or selling our world class services and facilities up and down the country to people from all over the world.

Despite the uncertainty we're currently facing in our industry on a global scale, I know we will bounce back stronger and more resistant than ever before. People will never stop meeting people, never stop exploring and never stop dreaming!
