I still remember it as if it was just a few weeks ago. January 2001... I somehow managed to get in touch with the PepsiCo Warsaw office, Marketing Department, and make an appointment. Just like this. Me, a complete stranger for them. I found their number and called to tell them what we do within the new medium, i.e. the Internet, and was invited for a meeting at Marynarska Street. A cold call that turned into 20-year long cooperation!
We discussed what we were able to do, and, most importantly, what we could do for individual brands. Initially, we talked about... water. However, we quickly realised that the flagship brand, i.e. Pepsi Cola, should have been our main focus. In a blink of an eye, i.e. in January, the first site was available www.pepsi.pl. In HTML and Flash :)
For the following years, we consistently probed and extended the digital Pepsi ecosystem, implementing numerous new features and testing state-of-the-art solutions and areas. Among others, we combined Pepsi with legal music available on-line, in cooperation with iplay.pl - the very first site selling legal digital music content on the Polish market. We ran first promotions involving unique codes that customers obtained from bottle caps and then texted or registered on the website. In 2006, we promoted podcasting, rallying its popularity, which came true, but a few years later ;) Pepsi campaigns and promotions were featured on key on-line media pages. Brand fans could redeem their codes for the “eurog?bka” currency on the Nasza Klasa site. With the advent of Facebook, we rapidly set up the PepsiPl fanpage. Then, there was Instagram and TikTok. One of the most vital and long-standing projects was Pepsi Taste Challenge, in which we were involved from the very start, i.e. during its première and the consecutive five editions.
What is most important though, is how our cooperation has been evolving. We started out from website and display ad campaign creation. Now, we are often responsible for all brand communication activities, including TV commercials. This, in itself, we do not consider as our success. We are most proud of the fact that our projects are always digital first. It means that an advertising spot is subordinated to the communication strategy created in response to target group's needs and expectations. We do not patchwork-create digital elements adding them to analogue ones. Always digital - deep in our hearts!
For the last 20 years, we have had the pleasure to work both for the Polish division and regional structures. In 2002-2006, we worked for the CEE region, and since 2015, we have been cooperating with the Pepsi East Europe region coordinating advertising activity on 35 Central and Eastern European markets.
As far as I remember, with Micha? Owczarek, my long-standing partner responsible for strategy and creation in our agencies, we have always emphasised innovation and reliable craft. At least one of us has always participated in each project. Thus full involvement of the agency and, most of all, its entire team's engagement, is guaranteed. Regardless of its name... For the last 20 years, the name has changed a few times. We operated the longest as Digital One, i.e. from 2001 to 2015. Including a few years as a part of the Euro RSCG Group. Next, from 2015 to 2017, it was Deloitte Digital. Finally, since 2018, we have been cooperating within the framework of Welcome Digital.
We would not have embarked on this exciting journey without all those remarkable people who have relentlessly generated new ideas and put them in practice on the agency’s side. Thank you very much!

Nowadays, when out-of-home business goes through such torrid time, we root for Pepsi and spend all our energy developing new projects!

3 年I can't believe this is 20 years. ...started from a cold call :) (thinking all these hours we tended to spend on telephones then vs now, now I don't have a desk phone at all). This opened the new digital era for Pepsi led by D1, first proper websites, digital comms! Well done Olek and team!
