20 years later
My perspective 20 years later.?
It was in June 2003 when I made a major career change and closed the chapter on 14 years of working in TV.?I was ready for a career change and chose to pursue a recruiting and account service role specializing in advertising and creative.? I wanted to work in a role that would marry my skills of match making, researching, storytelling, negotiating and talking to people. I accomplished just that.
Working as a recruiter is often a thankless job.?While I have placed several hundreds of people in terrific roles, there has been three times as many times I have had to say no you didn’t’ get the job.?
Here are just a few things I love about my career in recruiting:
I love partnering with hiring managers to uncover the nuance of what they are looking for, beyond their basic requirements.
I love uncovering a candidate’s professional sweet spot.?
I love the hunt.?All the researching, organic search, networking, juggling and talking to people.
I love learning.?As the advertising industry has changed.?To remain successful, I have had to learn about new trends, new technologies, emerging roles and new ways of doing business every year.
I am so grateful I went out on a limb and turned the page.
i'm glad you went out on a limb too - congrats Joyce :)
