20 Doable Marketing Ideas for Introverts

INFP-J.?Yep, that’s my Myers-Briggs type. If you’re not familiar with this assessment, the “I” stands for Introvert.?I am an introvert, yet I am also a certified master marketer.?Many introverts struggle with the “traditional” marketing methods, but we still need to grow our business.?Just because we don’t like to be the life of the party or scream from the rooftop to get attention doesn’t mean we can’t learn to market ourselves effectively.?And be darn good at it. So here are 20 doable marketing ideas you can try if you are a self-proclaimed introvert.

But first, let’s look at what makes us unique as introverts.?Introverts have a?wide range of advantages and strengths , including…

  • Ability to focus better on tasks and commit deeply to them
  • Excellent listening skills due to our preference for?observing?over engaging
  • Intuition regarding interpersonal dynamics
  • Great decision making skills due to our internal processing speed
  • Ability to think outside the box or come up with original ideas
  • Reliable and trustworthy confidantes due to our loyal and selfless nature
  • Highly empathetic toward others

As you can see, these traits can translate well into being good marketers but let’s look specifically at how.

Marketing Ideas that Use Your Natural Personality

#1: Accept Your Personality And Don’t Try To Be Like All The Extroverts.

It can be so easy to watch all your extroverted business colleagues and influencers and feel like you’ll never be as “good as them”.?Remember, extroverts have different strengths and they are not better or worse than your strengths.?Embrace your personality and remember you are unique.?There will always be people who are attracted to what you bring to the table.

#2: Be The First To Listen.

Remember, you were born to be a great listener.?And to be good at marketing, you need to be able to listen to your market and deeply understand their struggles, needs and desires.?Use your empathy to connect with your prospects and clients in not only your content but also your discovery calls.?One of the reasons my clients love me is because of my ability to make them feel seen and heard.?This is the gift of an introvert.

#3: Honor Your Brand Voice.

Be yourself always, even in your business.?Every business brand is different and as my spouse often says, “there is a hat for every head”.?Use your introverted secret sauce to?showcase a brand ?that is deep, intuitive, creative, loyal and trustworthy.?If you’re quirky, let people know. Quiet and reflective??That’s okay.?The right people will be attracted to your brand, as long as you show your authentic self.

Stretch Out of Your Comfort Zone (Just a Little)

#4: Get Out There In Small Ways.

I know. I know. It can be hard to get “out there”.?I struggle with this myself.?It’s so much easier to hide behind a computer screen and wait for people to come to us.?But effective marketing does require us to be seen so others can get to know us and our business.?Choose small ways that feel doable for you.?Try?blogging ?or writing articles.?Invite someone to a Zoom coffee meeting – introverts are great 1:1.?Join a mastermind group and push yourself to participate. Baby steps.?

#5: Don’t Wait For Someone To Ask; Offer First.

Again, it can feel scary to make an offer before someone asks but if you can focus on being of service with your offer, that will help.?One of the ways I practice making an offer is to use my intuition and creativity to provide valuable wisdom or advice to a coach I am talking with.?It feels less intrusive, while also showing the value I can bring.

#6: Go Deep With Your Content.

The online space is noisy and crowded – leaving readers tired of the same old boring content.?We are craving substance and depth.?This is perfect for introverts because we are typically deep people.?But you will have to trust yourself to go deep?publicly.?While it might bring up some anxiety for you, this is exactly the kind of marketing content that resonates today.

#7: Use Your Emotions And Be Vulnerable.

Yes I said it.?Be vulnerable.?This morning I read a newsletter from a prospective client, sharing a story of a big leadership mistake she made.?I was deeply engrossed in her content and found it both brilliant and captivating.?We are human beings that crave relatability and the courageous, vulnerable and emotional marketers create this connection.?This is marketing that just plain works.

#8: Use Your Talents To Connect With Others.?

Remember, as introverts, we are good with interpersonal dynamics.?Use those strengths to create business partnerships and?collaborations .?Set a realistic goal of connecting to 1-2 new people each week.?(Pssst. I need to set this goal myself) Set up a coffee call if possible and just get to know each other.?Eventually you will create a close network of colleagues that can mutually benefit your businesses.
