2 years on: How has HCP engagement evolved?

Back in 2021, at a time when the HCP engagement landscape was shifting quickly in response to COVID-19 impacts, research by EPG Health revealed widening gaps between HCP demand and pharma supply of medical content.?

Now, a follow-up study has been launched to explore the ongoing evolution and future of HCP engagement, and all stakeholders involved in providing scientific information are invited to provide crucial input – take the survey?

How have things moved on since 2 years ago? Alongside new themes including fresh focus on measuring impact, the 2023 study repeats several questions from the 2021 study to highlight any changes and future looking trends. Previously:?

  • 82% of HCPs considered ‘independent medical websites’ critical or important to their practice, while only 46% of pharma considered independent websites important, instead expecting to invest more heavily in their own websites (59% expected an increase). Did they? And with what effect??
  • Demand for certain scientific content formats such as medical podcasts (valued by 72% of HCPs) significantly outweighed pharma supply (38%). Have those gaps closed??
  • 63% of HCPs expected their demand for virtual access to congresses/events to remain much higher post-pandemic, versus 85% of pharma expecting the same. What does demand look like now and why??
  • ?Just 33% of pharma considered their organisations to be digitally mature, with 63% citing ‘customer experience’ as a major challenge, and the same proportion challenges by data/measurement. ‘A shift in digital mindset’ was voted pharma’s biggest strategic focus for the future (by 75%). How has digital maturity, insight and impact progressed??

Helping to answer these key questions and many more, pharmaceutical executives and service providers who take part in EPG Health’s survey will receive early access to the final report to inform HCP engagement strategies and tactics for 2024.?

This research is highly valued by industry; over two thirds of those who downloaded the previous report said they actioned some specific takeaways.?

Survey participation is anonymous and will help build a comprehensive picture of the trends, challenges and opportunities affecting HCP engagement. The survey takes up to 20 minutes to complete.?

*Spoiler Alert* The results from the latest surveys (open for another week) indicate the answer is 'yes' to the 3 questions above ... but this is really just the tip of the 2023 data iceberg. So many interesting insights to reveal!
