#2 What Do You Want?

Hi guys. It has been a while since I have written something here. Let me confess: I stopped writing because I was second-guessing myself. Yes, you heard that right. I was questioning whether whatever content I put out here is even relevant or if anyone wants to read anything.

I started journalling properly early this year and discovered something; I had been allowing others to dictate how I live my life, whereas that is not what I want for myself. I just burst out laughing, reading those old journal notes.

Like girl, can you freaking hear yourself?! That is why I started this new edition of the newsletter with this question: "What Do You Want?"

I am asking that question because this one question can open the floodgates and release you from the prison you have placed yourself in. Yes, people will be advising you about stuff, but it is YOUR life at the end of the day.

What do you want for you? Not what others tell you. What does your heart truly desire? What type of life do you want for yourself? What makes you happy and feel like yourself? Focus on that and ignore what others are doing. And yes, that includes blocking or unfollowing social media accounts that make you feel a certain negative way. Get rid of those toxic relationships and start placing boundaries.

Not everyone is going to follow you to the top. Not everyone has your best interests at heart, no matter how close they are to you. Not everyone will understand your pain and trauma. Not everyone will want to listen to your story. Heck, not everyone will want to be your customer.

Just because that is the situation you are in, that does not mean that is where you should remain in that spot. If you find yourself surrounded by toxic people, my dear, remove yourself and stay silent. Stay in your lane and do your thing. Trust me, I learned that lesson the hard way. Telling everybody your issue or having people poke their damn noses into your business 24/7 is enough to drain your energy.

That is why I am saying, keep yourself out of conversations that should not concern you. And if people judge you, that is on them, not you. Be positive. Speak goodness into your life. I learned that the hard way last year. Man, I regret allowing that negative energy to destroy me last year. I am working on becoming a better person and that is not an easy task.

Remember, do not be too hard on yourself. Just live your life and do you.
